MyUHC showing open claims that I’ve never received bills for

My wife (35F) has had a number of medical bills go to collections because she has a chronic health condition and she has difficulty staying on top of all the bills. We usually end up hitting our maximum out of pocket each year.So I've decided to take over the medical billing stuff.

I'm trying to go through everything. I'm noticing that there's multiple open claims, some of them are 2-3 years old for small amounts that we've never received bills in the mail for. Some of these are sub 1.00 or 5.00 bills. In total there's a little less than 40 of these claims open for a total value of about $1500.

UHC gives the option to pay online via thier 3rd party bill pay, but I've read that it's not wise to use this feature. Should I be calling up all these providers or should I just wait until we get a bill in the mail for these? I'm concerned that there's so many of these claims open.
