My spouse qualifies for medicaid and I don’t? [MN]

Hello: We’re a single-income household as of April [DINK prior] so as soon as my work’s benefits cut out, I went on the mnsure website to apply for financial aid and qualified for a subsidy of $225/mo, leaving me with $136/mo to pay.

I included both our incomes for the year, and my husband is adamant he declared his and my incomes accurately at the start of the year, which I believe since I had to provide proof that my employer doesn’t offer coverage options for spouses or children.

However, he’s getting full medicaid benefits through Minnesotacare despite multiple raises over the last several years, and has only had to pay a maximum of $25/mo, which that fee was also waived at the start of the pandemic and has been waived since with no information on when that will resume.

I don’t understand why I have to pay $136/mo when he and I essentially have the same income and I’m too afraid it’s clerical error and that if I report it or question it to them, I screw him over.

If it matters, he has some hearing impairment requiring aids, does that get factored in on application that I’m not aware of? He doesn’t remember if they asked since he filled out his first app in 2016 with an assister, but I’m pretty sure they didn’t ask me when I applied last month.

When he applied in 2016, he was making $12/hr, but now he’s making close to $16/hr. He’s at full time. I was making $13.50/hr the length of my employment.
