My old insurance is making me feel crazy, am I crazy?

Hello all,

So about a month ago I got a call from my OB saying my old insurance (since I don't have them anymore) denied a claim from the delivery of my son last year. I called the insurance and they were claiming I had secondary insurance. I called the insurance they thought I had (a NY State insurance that I cancelled when I moved to IL) and they sent me a letter of disenrollment to give to the other insurance. Ok so all is good right? I proved I had no other insurance at the time of the procedure.

Except now they're saying I didn't hit my deductible and I owe $1000+. This bill was ~$300 last year and I paid it via a payment plan through my OB. I keep telling them that and it doesn't make any sense that this bill is suddenly so different when absolutely nothing has changed. However they keep regurgitating the same information – that my deductible wasn't met.

Like am I crazy? It must have been met- not only do I remember their stupid blue bar on the app being filled saying I met it but this bill was already paid last year and definitely not over $1000.

Should I just put in an appeal at this point?
