My insurance got denied because the providers platform won’t let me update my insurance. Am I supposed to appeal? (Brand new to insurance sorry)

Hello, also sorry if this is the wrong flair I’m literally at work stressed bc i got double fisted by both my dental and health and am now wondering wth I even pay my monthly for :/?

I just graduated college and previously my insurance was thought the university.

I knew my insurance was ending in September, so I was updating it to my jobs insurance. The one for the job they give us like digital cards. The weird thing is I ALSO had a digital card previously and it was uploaded fine? And there are charges that went through fine after the updated date? I digress.

I tried uploading it and it blocks me, asking for a front and back of insurance card. I cannot take a picture because there is no “back”, just the front of the digital. I tried to get one emailed to me which doesn’t work. This made my insurance revert to my university one (expired) without me realizing, and then when they tried to charge it to my new account the insurance charged me instead claiming that the numbers didn’t match.

I’ve emailed the provider, but what do I do with the insurance company? Do I tell them to resubmit? Do I appeal? Also since I already got charged what does that mean? Sometimes the provider will refund me so will that also happen or am I going to have to do some hoop jumping? I have anthem blue cross PPO.

Thanks in advance.
