Non-plantilla employees of the Quezon City (QC) local government unit or those who undertake special projects or jobs within a specific period are now included in the health insurance program of the city.

“The city government recognizes that the health and safety of our entire workforce is of paramount importance to us. It is the right of our employees—regardless of their employment status—to receive protection in the form of health insurance,” Mayor Joy Belmonte said.

She added that this initiative will help ensure that everyone who works for the city in whatever employment capacity is in tiptop shape to deliver services to residents as efficiently and effectively as possible.

The program covers all full-time contract of service (COS), job order (JO), and consultant employees of the executive and legislative branches, who have rendered at least six months of continuous and uninterrupted service prior to February 1, 2022.

According to Ronald Tan, officer-in-charge of the QC Human Resource Management Department (HRMD), the program will cover more than 13,000 eligible non-plantilla workers.

He said they will be entitled to an aggregate benefit limit of P100,000 per member per year.

Benefits include annual physical examinations, emergency care services, hospitalization or in-patient care and out-patient services, insurance for pre-existing and critical illnesses, and life insurance.

Under the agreement with Cocolife Healthcare, the current health insurance program is valid from February 1, 2022 to January 31, 2023.
