Medical Billing: Parents Insurance

Hello!

To give some background to the situation: I am 25 and still on my father’s insurance plan which is a Cigna HSA. I’ve recently had a surgery done and have just received a bill for 7.5K. I can pay the amount myself as I usually do but am looking for any advice as my normal bill reflects some “discount” for lack of a better term.

I’m wondering if I’m eligible for assistance with the payments’ sum? (Example my ADHD medication is subsidized and my out of pocket payment is a decent portion “covered” / “subsidized” by the insurance)

Any explanation to the financials behind the large 7.5K payment would be appreciated. Should I just get on my company’s plan now? I never go to the doctor usually, just a remote psychiatrist which renews my prescription so since my parents split and I’ve been under my dad’s HSA.. until today have not seen such a large bill for medical expenditures.

Thanks in advance for any advice!
