Huge problem. I was on Medicaid four years ago, got on my partner’s insurance and I cancelled. I stopped using Medicaid entirely. I used private ins and when we cancelled I used cobra. After cobra, went to the marketplace bc I was working. I have been on marketplace for two years. Just yesterday I get an email that I might lose my coverage because I have Medicaid. Come to find out Medicaid has been “overriding” and auto renewing despite no income verification due to Covid policies. Ultimately a good thing for most people, but for me it means I may owe back pay on my premium tax credits and may lose my current policy. I’m beside myself idk what to do. They’re telling me I should try and get Medicaid to “back date” my cancellation? But Medicaid is saying they can’t do that. I have no Medicaid claims for years, idk if that helps. Am I at risk of any crime?? I’m so terrified. I have no idea what is going on. Different people keep telling me different things. Does anyone have any experience with this situation
