Medi-Cal Forgot to Report Income Change – California

Hello,

I started a new job a month and a half ago but forgot to report my income change. I was suppose to do it within 10 days or 30 days with Covered California but I forgot. I got a Medi-Cal renewal letter yesterday and remembered so I reported the change. I also called today and told them the situation and if there would be any penalty.

Basically they said my Medi-Cal would end at the end of the month since I no longer qualify (which is fine, I knew that would happen), and that they do not determine the penalty, and that it would be determine when I file my taxes.

My question is, will there be a penalty/fine I would have to pay for being a month and a half late? If so, I was wondering around how much that would be?

Also, one of the reasons I forgot is that even though I had Medi-Cal, I never really used it. I do have any medication or even been to a doctor in years.
