Medi-cal/Covered California/SCVHP, doesn’t allow my 14yr old to be under my medical profile anymore? is there a way to by-pass this?

Both of my children and I are under the same health care coverage.

I had my daughter in January of 2023, she had her first check up with a different pediatrician and then went to my son's pediatrician.. so both children have the same pediatrician. When we went to her dr's appointment, the nurse and doctor basically forced us to get signed up with the "my health online" portal, their website the hospital uses, I have an account as well, so my daughter is under my user portal. Normally we would just get my son's appointments mailed to us or we'd get a telephone appointment reminder, well we were told that my son would not be allowed to be under my user portal because he was 14! Meaning he would have to come in to the dr's office and sign up with his email and schedule all of his own appointments. This makes no sense to me because he is still a minor and under my care! he is also not sexually active (*as I know many pediatricians will stop seeing minors if they are sexually active but this isn't the case).

Is there anyway to by-pass this and continue to have him under my user portal?? or is this standard procedure now?

The other thing my husband and I were thinking is to possibly switch our son health plans and have him under my husband's health insurance. I could use advice, thanks!
