Medi-Cal and County Plan Questions

Hello,

Just switched from my university's anthem blue cross health care with access to UCSF to Medi-Cal. I live in Contra Costa County in California's bay area, so the available plan seems like Contra Costa Health Plan, potentially Kaiser, and somehow Anthem??? I don't know how that would work.

Anyone with experience using Medi-Cal in Contra Costa County, any tips on good doctors to choose as primary care providers? Any tips on receiving specialized care like physical therapy?

On another note, I was told that Contra Costa Health Plan does not cover medication . . . like full stop. No meds for you. Rather, you have to go through Medi-Cal itself?? Isn't CCHP Medi-Cal?? The many headed hydra of state run healthcare has me calling like 10 different numbers to get some basic meds. Any tips on getting medicine with Medi-Cal is also greatly appreciated.

Many thanks!
