Marketplace Insurance for NJ Couple Trying to Have a Baby

My husband and I are both independent contractors shopping for insurance. We live in NJ and are planning (hoping) to have our first baby next year. We have been trying for over 1.5 years and started seeing a fertility specialist in the last few months. I will also need to see an endocrinologist throughout a pregnancy.

I have a couple questions:

Is it better for us to get insurance together or separately? Since I will be the one receiving pre/postnatal care, delivery, maternity care, etc., and my husband is in good health, is it necessary for both of us to be on a more expensive plan?
