Marketplace Insurance and Limitations With It

Ok, I completely understand how Marketplace Insurance works. I also understand it’s quite expensive by the time the government (tax payers) and the individual pay for this insurance.

My insurance before the ACA act went into place was wonderful and only cost $200 + for my spouse and myself with BCBSTX. We could pretty much go anywhere. It was a PPO and had very reasonable deductible and out of pocket.

Fast forward BCBSTX on Marketplace is completely the opposite. Very high deductible, very high out of pocket etc. As I looked at it last year, between government subsidy and our payment it would be about $1,600 plus a month!

For that amount, you don’t get much. I look at hospitals, urgent care etc. Most take all types of BCBS, but most say at the bottom, we don’t accept BCBS Marketplace insurance. Wait what???

My friend owns a small company 14 employees. He pays $600 for every married couple and they pay about $300 a month and have a wide open list of providers.

How does this make sense? Please don’t try to flip this to some political thing. This pure bullshit in my opinion!

This drives me nuts!
