Lost state insurance, looking for help with cancer history.

I was just denied renewal from my state insurance from making $35/month over their accepted income level. I had my cancer come back for the second time in 3 years this year and have no idea how I’ll be able to afford follow up care without it.

I am an independent contractor and do not have insurance through a workplace. Even when I did, my rates were > $550 (individual marketplace or corporate sponsored) a month and I cannot afford that right now. Given my medical history you might imagine they’re not too keen to give bargain rates.

I am heartbroken at the idea of potentially needing to call my doctors and cancel my appointments because I cannot afford self pay for the follow up care I’m recommended.

I am looking into short term medical coverage through a professional organization beforel the Nov 1 enrollment period starts to see what kind of offers I will get. If anyone knows any organizations that maybe help with cancer patients or has any recommendations in general, I am all ears.
