If I am currently uninsured (working part time without benefits and did not secure ACA health insurance during open enrollment) and I need to have surgery before open enrollment next year, can I quit my part time job to join another with benefits to gain health insurance? Do I need to wait til 2023?

Long story short, I’m losing health coverage from my job as I’m going into my next one. The next healthcare that my new employer has is a health care sharing ministry. I’m absolutely not all about that, and have seen a lot of reddit users not recommend it as well.

So I’ve enrolled in the healthcare.gov marketplace coverage and had a few questions before looking at anything on there. (I live in Ohio)

-It asks about “household income”. I live with my boyfriend, not married. Would I only enter my income or both of ours? (I am not eligible for Medicaid)

-I have used Anthem in the past and liked it. I looked at their individual plans so far and would choose a silver one. Since I also am available to have the marketplace coverage, I qualify for tax credits. Is it worth it to pick a marketplace plan and take the credit? If so, how much credit would I use to lower my premium; is it better to leave some leftover?

I have a second job that is based on commissions in a way, and it will change every year. I know I have to change the amount of income based on that.

I am very interested in knowing everyone’s opinion on the gov marketplace plans because I have only used employee healthcare up to this point.
