Looking for a insurance plan that could help me until the enrollment period

Hi all,

Sorry for the long read, just wanted to explain the situation clearly.

I’m in a tough situation and seeking guidance.

I(27m) have been in US on F1 visa for the last 5 years. I got laid off at my previous company(which had great insurance) and During my unemployment i took a temporary travelers insurance(since I’m on a student visa, i was told I’m eligible for the travelers insuranc) until August to make sure i was covered, after 4 months i got a job in small family owned business as a contractor.

Recently i met with an unexpected complication with a preexisting condition that has caused a huge impact on my health. I thought my temporary health insurance would cover the cost, but they sent me a bill that it wont get covered as it’s a preexisting condition I’m trying to fight the claim, but that’s not my top priority right now. In my doctors visit, i was told my medical condition needs to be treated surgically, i thought i could just go to my home country and focus on my treatment and get a job there. But the doctors told me that traveling back home(20+ hours journey) has a very high chance of triggering dire side effects and was told to get it treated and go home ( i took a second opinion and was told the same).

I reached out to my employer asking if they would help provide an insurance, they said it’s too late and they can’t get me an insurance plan until November. I’m trying to get a new job but it may take a month or two. Until i get a new job is there anything i can do, to get covered incase i face a medical emergency?

I appreciate any response, that could help me get out of this horrible situation i put myself in.
