Is this a QLE? Health insurance options

I’m an idiot and missed my new employee open enrollment period for work. Now my spouse and I do not have any coverage. I was overwhelmed with the onboarding/offboarding of my new/old job during busy periods of both. Then my wife and I also bought a house during this time and my father had some issues.

I assumed buying the house and moving (different zip code but same state, just like 10 min away from current address) would open up a SEP, but my and my wife’s employer are both saying that because it doesn’t effect benefit eligibility that it doesn’t count as a QLE. I.e. because my offerings of health insurance would be the same in both addresses it doesn’t open up an SEP.

My question is, would this still count as a QLE for marketplace plans? If not, what are my options through the end of the year until open enrollment? Just short term medical?

The rules im finding for marketplace plans seem different than what our employers are saying. For instance, our employers are saying we have 30 days from the QLE to open an SEP, while I feel like I’m reading on healthcare.gov that it’s 60 days. I thought the ACA applied to both of them, so I would’ve expected them to be the same.

Embarrassing insult to injury, I’m a health insurance actuary; I should know better about all this but life is really overcoming me lately.

Edit based on auto mod response: wife and I make around 275K combined so probably don’t qualify for anything low income. We’re both in our early 30’s. We’re in Wisconsin.
