Is there any way to lower my ER payment?
I was feeling a little sick last month (light headed, fever) and my GF pushed me to go to the ER because I had a fever of 105. I’ve never in my life gone to the ER because I know how pricey it can be, but I go. It was late at night, literally the only person in the waiting room and get checked out somewhat promptly. They give me a swab test in the nose and tell me I have the flu. Doc gives me some pills for the fever and a tamiflu rx and I leave. I’m there for about an hour total. Finally get the bill and the total was just over $1.6k. I do have insurance and that knocked the price down to around $700 for me. That still seems high to me and I’m not really in the position to pay a $700 expense. I wish I would’ve just stayed home. Anyway, I haven’t called anyone (hospital, insurance) about billing yet, but I’m wondering if there are any ways to possibly lower this bill what I should be asking for specifically. On the bill it only says ER services and the charge. Thank you
