Is it smart to keep Kaiser CORBRA for 18 months for jaw surgery?

So I left my current job (Kaiser plan) for a new job (Aetna plan). I want to continue my coverage via CORBRA, because Kaiser has good jaw surgeons and easy approvals, and I’m already undergoing a plan with my ortho and my Kaiser jaw surgeon, although jaw surgery hasn’t been approved yet. Im willing to pay high premium, around 300-350. I want to keep Kaiser VIA CORBRA, under the notion I can keep it for 18 months, as this is very important. My main concern is I don’t have much understanding of CORBRA and don’t want to lose insurance while undergoing a major process and procedure, which takes a year of braces, and then surgery happens within that 6 months. Is CORBRA reliable and as long as pay my premium, I should be able to keep my insurance no problem? Can I also keep CORBRA longer than 18 months?

My other option is to wait around June and start Aetna, find a new Ortho and now a new in network surgeon for Aetna. This will lengthen my process again as I have to restart. I also have very limited experience with Aetna and have no knowledge of surgeons in LA that are Aetna in network, nor Orthodontics that have work with Aentea surgeons. This seems to be the safer option as I will have guaranteed health insurance, but it will take longer for me to began my process and still uncertainty whether I will get approved or be able to find a competent surgeon. Any recommendations will be extremely helpful.
