Is it possible to get reimbursed for a prescription I fill while waiting for insurance coverage to start?

I’m so frustrated right now. I enrolled myself and two dependents in COBRA. It appears my COBRA has processed and the insurance was backdated to the beginning of the month. However, I’ve had nothing but problems for my dependents. All their claims have been getting denied, the insurance is saying invalid when I try to use it at a pharmacy, I can’t see their details on my portal, etc

I’ve called insurance and my employer benefits team no less than 15 times this week and told that my plan is active and everything is good but that they would escalate my concerns. Well finally at 6:30 Friday evening I had a representative tell me my plan is active but my dependents were never added on to COBRA. They told me the COBRA rep isn’t available now until Monday but I have a prescription I really need for one of my dependents. It is quite pricey out of pocket but I really don’t want to wait to sort all this out, especially since it seems no one with insurance has even been able to figure out what’s going on until now.

Is it possible to get reimbursed for a prescription once insurance kicks in if I fill it out of pocket now?
