Is it even possible for us to be insured?

I recently got married and started a new job. It’s been many years coming and I couldn’t be happier. Prior to this my children and I had been on a Medicaid plan for about 12 years. My employer offers no health insurance. My husband’s employer offers only one plan which he is currently on with a premium of about $120/month. I’m 36 and my husband is 27. My girls are 7 & 12. We are located in Indiana and our combined income will likely be between $87,000 and $99,000 this year (both in the sales side of trades).

If we joined my husband the premium would jump to $996/month for:

$5,000 individual /$10,000 family in network deductible

$15,000 individual /$30,000 family out of network deductible

OOP: $8,550 in/$25,560 out individual-$17,100 in/$51,300 out family

Covers 80% in / 60% out after deductible

PCP $35/ded + coins

Specialist $60/ded + coins

ER $250 Copay then deductible + coins

No mention of hospital coverage

Rx: coverage through Optum -has never worked for my husband but apparently exists – we have about 8 Rx’s a month that would range from $30 to $450 according to their tiers

Obviously, this plan will not work for us. I have one special needs child which requires specialists visits, and we’ve already had 2 ER visits in the last month.

We are out of CHIP coverage eligibility for my kids and must not be eligible for a tax credit because all the marketplace plans I see are worse than what is offered through my husband’s employer.

What are my options here? Ideally, I’d prefer not to give up my career or get divorced just to pay for healthcare but I don’t see how we have any options that would require less than 50% of our income to be dedicated to health costs.
