Hello kind people of r/HealthInsurance. I hope I haven’t worn out my welcome here, but I received such great info with my last post I’d like to press my luck..

My husband and I freelance and along with our toddler, have a Gold 80 PPO with Blue Shield of CA. We will soon be relocating temporarily to another state at the end of November for at least a few months. We will then return to California for a few months and then back to the other state for a longer period (when we will likely switch our residency) The place we are moving to is somewhat rural but close to a major metropolitan area across the state line. Ideally we would be able to see specialists in that city if needed, or even in another city 4 hours away that has great hospitals. Both of those cities are located in the adjacent state to the rural area. Is this possible?

Given this somewhat unique set of circumstances, can anyone offer advice on how to proceed? We will remain CA residents until at least March (maybe later) so I’m hesitant to cancel the plan in CA, but it is very costly. Is there a type of plan I should look into that will cover us in all states (wishful thinking I’m guessing)
