I'm finishing my PhD and am on a status called "filing fee" where I'm still considered an enrolled student (therefore within the bounds of my visa status, since I can't be here unless I'm enrolled in the school on my visa document), but not actually enrolled in classes or eligible for funding anymore. I used to get campus health insurance through my funding, so that's gone too. I'm still here though, as I finish and prepare to file my diss, on this reduced courseload status that I got approved through my university. I don't want to be in the US without any health insurance at all, just in case of any emergencies, even if it's, like, cutting myself while cooking and needing stitches or something, you know? What kind of insurance would I be eligible for, and where would I go looking for it? I want to spend as little as possible and really just be covered for emergencies. I'm in CA. Thanks!
