Insurance thinks Deductible was met

Wife is preganant and is currently under pre natal care. She is under a HDHP plan through my work. Our deductible is $4000 and out of pocket maximum $5000. She recently underwent a genetic test and after insurance paid part of the claim, my EOB said I owed $4000 to my provider (testing agency). I called the testing agency and they mentioned that I can pay a reduced sum out of pocket and I don’t need to pay the full 4000. I had to pay a total of $200 and I received updated bills from the provider that all my dues have been paid.

However my insurance thinks I need to pay $4000 out of pocket and in that regard, I’ve already met the deductible. The testing agency says they’re good since they’ve been paid and they won’t have any further correspondence with my insurance provider. They told me this is normal. However I feel like I haven’t truly met my deductible and I might be penalized later for it.

My total out of pocket expenses for the year are close to $500 (still short of $3500 to meet my actual deductible). We still haven’t been billed for the rest of the prenatal care and delivery charges.

How should I go about this ?
