Don’t know WHY OR HOW I’m still going in circles between insurances but it’s been an absolute nightmare. I have gotten confirmation a few times from my moms insurance that if my husbands insurance denies the claims they WOULD PAY it! I have taken reference numbers from every call. They’re saying now because my husbands month & day fall before my moms that it makes him primary? But I had been on my moms insurance for 26 years & never had an issue until after I turned 26 in the middle of June 2021 (could this be the actual issue here?). I had a letter stating from my moms insurance that I was covered until 12/31/21. All of the kickback days are after 08/2021 – about 12-15 services total.

While yes I was covered I’m not understanding the birthday rule. Does it apply to spouses as well & not just the parents? I was under the impression that it was primary between your own parents birthdays. Insurance agents aren’t explaining it in detail to me & I’m just confused. My chiro office has talked to my moms insurance 4 times since June & has sent over all documentation they were asking for. My husbands insurance has denied the claims so that my moms insurance will cover it. My husbands insurance is saying they were secondary until I was off my moms plan completely. It’s entering into escalations now from my moms insurance. My chiro office is on the brink of giving up because it didn’t enter into escalations quick enough for them & I will have a decent bill to pay out of pocket even though I was INDEED covered under 2 insurances. Can they bill me for that even though it’s an error through insurance?

Sorry if this is confusing & lengthy but if anyone is able to help me figure out who should’ve been primary then I can try & fix it. Because I’m under the impression it should’ve been my moms until 12/31/21. Thanks if you made it this far. I’m beyond frustrated.
