Hello My spouse has a relatively high deductible with her employer based plan, and no HSA offered. I'm genuinely curious if there is a 3rd party insurance plan out there that covers deductibles regardless of reason (illness injury etc etc). Basically if you have to pay any portion of your deductible, you file a claim and this insurance will pay it out, and you can pay a monthly premium based on how much deductible you would like covered (2000, 5000, 8000, 10000, for example). does any such thing exist, and if not, why not? Seems like it would be a good business.

The closest thing I could find were companies like Aflac and United Healthcare which offer some payouts if you have a very specific scenarios (only injury, very specific serious illnesses, hospitalization requirements). They were very clunky and not really well priced.

Honestly the closest thing I could find that was reminiscent of this would be pet insurance, where you pay a monthly premium ($30-60$ a month) and if you need to use it they will pay 70-80% of your out of pocket cost up to an annual max of your choosing. If they can do this for pets, why not people, haha?
