I retired on July the 15th (Age 57)

My company insurance ended then

I had called an insurance broker (Too complicated for me to do alone) 2 weeks prior to get a new insurance policy.

(I do not qualify for “Low premium” as my company gave me money to pay for my premiums for 4-5 years. It’s called HRPA)

After a few phone calls between him and me, i selected a new policy.

But he called me back a few days later and said he found out they won’t start me until August 1st and that i need a letter of end of coverage by my previous insurance company (Surprised he did not know these 2 key items).😳

I called my company health benefits, they said no problems and it will take 5-7 business days for me to receive the letter (Via email) 😳

So now, i have been trying to call the broker but he is not good at returning calls.

We have 4 business (Then its August 2nd and new insurance will push me to Sept 1st) days to provide them with the letter.

I m not on cobra and would go on it only if needed (Paying my pills out of pocket right now).

Cobra is $400/Week

If i need care let’s say the 3rd week of August, i would have to pay Cobra $400 X 5 weeks = $2000 (Cobra is retroactive) 😳

Is there anything i can do if we don’t get that letter to my new insurance by August 1st?

I would be another 4 weeks without insurance.

My HRPA does not pay for Cobra.

I appreciate the help
