Insurance at 21 with Health Issues?
Hello all!
So I am still on my parents’ health insurance but am on very bad terms with them and have been for a long time now. Recently, I’ve had several health issues and my parents keep hounding me that they are paying too much, even with their insurance. I’m honestly sick of having to keep relations with them just for their insurance. I think it’s time I get my own so I can cut all that off.
I have no idea how to do this. Google really only suggests Medicaid but is that my only option? I have several medical issues, so I’m not sure where to look.
Not sure what information is helpful but: I don’t make a whole lot, working part-time, but am alright-ish financially, though my company says I cannot work full-time and cannot receive any benefits through them. I could ask about going full-time again if I need to but I have a feeling the answer will be the same. I live in Ohio, USA. I just work, I’m not a student or anything.
Though I’m in a weird spot right now, I usually take several mental health medications, and a few physical health medications (but I don’t have any medications right now. My parents dropped all my doctors because their insurance no longer covers online appointments, I’m working on getting in with in-person doctors now).
Is there any insurance that is better for someone with multiple health issues who knows they will be needing care pretty frequently? I have severe chronic pain caused by…something. Doctors haven’t been able to figure out what for the past 9 years. What insurance is good for like needing specialists and stuff?
What insurance is good for someone with an unknown ailment? Sorry I know I’m asking a lot and this is pretty long but I really need advice.
SUMMARY: I need to find health insurance when I have a lot of health issues. What insurance is good for someone who needs ongoing care and has several medications? I live in Ohio, USA and am 21 years old.
P.S. I also am trans and currently have a testosterone prescription. It would be really nice if I could keep that/find insurance that help with gender-affirming care 🙂
