Important info for Medicaid recipients losing coverage as a result of the national emergency ending!

So I previously was on Medicaid under ARHome (the Arkansas Medicaid program). I received notice earlier this year my income needed to be updated. I checked and found out I was now making more than what was allowed. So I found a new plan through Blue Cross/Blue Shield. My previous plan was with them too.

Fast forward a few months after my new plan took effect, I’m paying premiums on the new plan, but receiving coverage/copays, etc from the old one. I met in person with a BCBS agent yesterday and was told (at least in Arkansas), there were so many people losing coverage that they had to split it up into two groups. Some people were removed in April and she said the rest should be removed in September.

If you know you are losing coverage, check with your insurance agent to see if its still actually active. Mine was supposed to be cancelled March 31, but is still going strong! So if you are in need of certain medical procedures or whatever, right now would be the time to get it done.

However, there is no telling if they will go back later and rebill you for previous coverage. Again, mine was “cancelled” March 31st and I had a surgery done on April 7th. I originally paid the full bill, but this week had it all refunded back to me other than my old copay.
