I’m pretty knowledgeable about the system but this situation has left me confused. I won’t have insurance (Kaiser) for another 60 days. What’s the best way to start seeing a therapist now?

California, 31 year old single male, no dependents, $110k annual income (most of which goes to rent, auto insurance, living expenses, and student loans)

I took health law in law school so I kind of just need some practical advice and don’t want to talk to anybody I know.

I know KP is managed care. I know they’ll push me to see a therapist in house. I have $800 in my HSA from my last insurance. I just started a new job as an attorney in a new field and have so much anxiety. I have been using my anti anxiety meds and what other meds I have to numb myself at night when I get home just so I can fall asleep. My doctor back when I had decent insurance gave me two scripts for the same SNRI at different strengths. I’ve been taking the stronger one. I went to one NA meeting and realized my situation isn’t what that is for, and it’s best to just see a therapist.

I’m getting KP Platinum 90 HMO 0/10 in 60 days. I could in theory pay for this from the marketplace for 2 months too but that seems really expensive and a hassle.

Should I just pay with my HSA for a kaiser specific therapist now, so that I have the same therapist later on? Or should I go through telehealth to save some money? Really any thoughts or help is appreciated. Thanks!
