I’m confused and don’t know what to do next…
Yesterday (December 1st), I started looking for health insurance. I went through Healthcare.gov and it recommended some plans for me. I ended up going with the “BlueEssentials Silver 39” plan through Blue Cross Blue Shield of my home state, South Carolina. I answered a bunch of questions and then I was told that I needed to pay the premium before December 15th in order to have it available by January 1st. I had the money to pay it right then and there, so I did. I was sent to a screen that appeared to be a receipt and then nothing happened. I went back to the Healthcare.gov website and I continued to find myself looking at the option to pay the premium.
I’m not sure where to go next after that. I’ve checked my bank account. The premium is in the pending transactions section, so they’re attempting to or have taken money from me. However, no further instructions have been given. I went to the BCBS website for South Carolina and I tried creating an account. I don’t have a member ID and it said that it didn’t have anything attached to my social security number. I would really just like clarification from anyone who might have some, about what I should be doing next.
Should I just be waiting? Is this normal? I’m just confused. This is the first time I have attempted to purchase health insurance for myself so I really am clueless as to what to do now. I’m not ready to scream “SCAM!” but it has crossed my mind. Please, if anyone knows anything that might alleviate my confusion, that would be appreciated.
Also, sorry if this post doesn’t meet the requirements of this subreddit nor the flair.
