I was just laid off today, what are my options for health insurance?

I was just laid off. Is medicaid an option?

Unfortunately, I've just been laid off, which means losing health insurance is another blow. With the job market being so tough, I'm struggling to see how I'll find new employment soon. I might have to take a few months off to focus on studying for the CPA exam. My main question now is: how soon can I apply for Medicaid?

Do I need to wait until after my severance ends? My severance only lasts a month, and with my previous salary at $50,000 per year, COBRA seems expensive. I've heard there are other options available, so what would be my best choice in this situation? Additionally, I was on Medicaid for years but was removed last February due to an emergency situation. Now that I'm unemployed, is Medicaid my best option again? Also if I apply for unemployment and let's just say I get 504 a week, would I still even qualify for Medicaid. In new york? I read something about essential plan being income limit being 36k a year. So what are your guys thoughts?
