I think I’m about to get screwed over a CT scan. Any advice?

This past weekend I was having this crazy stomach pain on right side and some nausea, so I went to a gastroenterologist on Monday afternoon. He did some checks and ordered an immediate CT scan to rule out appendicitis. He scheduled me for a scan across the hall (an unassociated imaging center) for an hour later. I went right across the hall and got the scan, and went home (not appendicitis btw).

Today I got a call from the gastroenterologist office saying “I’m sure as you are aware your insurance has denied the CT scan so we would at least like to schedule you for an ultrasound instead.” Um? I already got the CT scan. I called back the office and am waiting for a response, but am I about to get screwed by my insurance and now have to pay for the CT scan out of pocket? Should I contact my insurance immediately? The claim is not yet appearing on my log in page.

TL/DR: Insurance denied my CT scan but I’ve already gotten one
