I need help getting my husband insurance and it is so maddening.

Here is the situation. I (F29) am disabled and get healthcare through Medicare but that means we have to figure out how to cover my husband (M31). When we lived in Wisconsin he had great healthcare through his job, however he has some serious health issues developing. Slowly he lost more and more time until he was maintaining the job just to have the healthcare. (I did apply for Medicaid for him but they insisted he made too much money. He was making less than 23k a year but ok.)

Together we were too sick to work anymore and my disability/assistance couldn't cover everything. His family reached out and moved us down to… Texas. Big move, it was very intense.

Together we figured most things out. Now we've been here for 2 months, he's looked for any work he is capable of with his developing disability. I'm sure most here are aware that getting a job right now is hard enough but now do it with severe limitations. He's applying for disability but that takes 3-4 years to MAYBE get. I've been going to government and local sites to try and find low cost healthcare but so many are predatory and we don't apply for a lot of assistance for some reason. I can't swing 300$ a month for him to get care and diagnosed on top of copays with no coverage. I don't even care about the debt, I just need to get him care.

Nothing can get better for us unless we both get care and I'm already doing everything I can for both of us. I also applied for Medicaid here in Texas but who knows if they'll approve him. I also checked Healthcare.gov and that was the $300 covering virtually nothing.

Are there plans out there for like 10$-50$? Are there reliable sites that aren't going to try to bleed our last pennies? I love him so much and it hurts me that I can't heal him every day.

Our only income is my disability at the moment. That's 878$ a month. 600 goes to our car and its insurance, everything after that is for our needs and our 2 cats needs. Getting help from the family that moved us here beyond a roof and food has not happened. Don't get me wrong, we appreciate it greatly.
