I have a chronic medical condition. I am supposed to have yearly checkups with multiple specialists every year. I had some issues with my ear recently, and saw 2 ENTs (the first referred me to the second one). I just got the bill for the first one- $212 because I haven’t met my deductible. I checked my EOB online and apparently I will owe another $180 for the second ENT whenever that bill gets sent. Plus, I had to have a CT scan ordered by the first ENT. I paid $50 coinsurance, but now an $11,000 claim is pending in my EOB for a freaking CT scan! Now, insurance hasn’t said yet how much they will pay, so maybe a miracle will happen when it actually finishes being processed 🤷‍♀️ I cannot afford to keep playing this Russian roulette with my finances! One specialist I am supposed to follow up with is a cardiologist, because I had to have open heart surgery at birth, and they want to make sure the problem doesn’t come back. But from now on, I will NOT have any medical care unless I am truly dying. Call me irresponsible if you want, but I didn’t create this problem. It’s truly pathetic that I will have to neglect my health when I PAY EVERY PAYCHECK for health insurance. Rant over.
