I got a job recently and it seems I will be losing Medicaid coverage, I’m clueless on what to do.

To start, my job does not offer insurance. I recently went into MiBridges to update them on my employment, and today I got a “health care coverage determination” message in my account, saying that I have limited coverage, and that I’m eligible for Plan First which only covers family planning and STI testing. So of course I’m like… I guess I have to pay for insurance now because I really do not want to have to pay a minimum of $400 a month just for my Testosterone (I’m trans, and that was the cost of the gel roughly), and that’s not including other medications or appointments, therapy, etc.

I don’t really know what to do, I was immediately overwhelmed on trying to find an insurance plan, I’ve never done it before. (In my panicked search I accidentally put my phone number into a site that I now think was not so good, as I’ve gotten like 10+ calls today, ugh.)

I guess what I want to know is, what should my next steps be? And will paying rent and other things effect whether or not I’m eligible for Medicaid? If it’s possible I’d like to get my coverage back. I’m not currently paying for rent or food, because I have been living with my friend and her mom, and for a long time I wasn’t capable of doing those things, so they provided for me. And now I’m in this weird in-between spot where I recently have a job, and am in the process of getting an apartment, but do not yet have any actual bills I need to pay or anything.

I make $15/hr, 40 hours a week, but tbh I have yet to actually work that much, so it’s probably been closer to 30 hours, give or take.
