I didn’t report my change in employment to Medicaid immediately and I don’t know what to do

I started a new job in June (americorps) and I didn't realize at the time I needed to update my change in employment. When I did I got the forms filled out but then was told to go under the health coverage americorps offers. Of course there was a lot of miscommunication and it turns out it's not really health insurance, so I decided to stay on Medicaid instead of switching. I explained my situation to the support line and they said to just update my employment asap. I'm really worried though because even on the americorps stipend, I make $200 higher than the income limit so I know I'll be denied Medicaid when I submit the paperwork. I'm okay with that part but I had a looot of health issues in the past few months and Medicaid covered it (ER visits, specialists, etc. amounting to about 7k in medical services). I read online they might request those funds back. I really do not have the money to pay it all back (americorps stipend is $1800/month) and I'm worried sick. I know it's not completely legal but could I just cancel my Medicaid and hope they don't find out about my job change (like through my tax filings) or submit the employment change paperwork and plead my case with them? I really do not have the funds to pay it all back and I just don't know what to do. I don't want to make things worse but I really don't have the money and I’m panicking so bad. What are my options? What are the chances they'll check my tax filings if I just cancel and don't report the employment change? Or say I started my job a little bit later than I actually did?
