I cancelled my medi-cal because none of the doctors I wanted accepted the insurance and now I’m stuck in a dilemma?

Hi folks,

For 30 years (30NB) of my life, I was on Medi-cal and over recent years I noticed a decline in care and accessibility. Most of the recommended doctors (meaning they’re highly recommended by patients that I know) in my area don’t accept any of the Medi-Cal plans available in my area (Los Angeles County). I have a few health issues that haven’t been resolved and/or ignored, such as chronic back pain, mental health issues which I currently receiving treatment for, and possibly unresolved PCOS/hormonal issues. Many of Covered California’s plans are in the $200-400 range but don’t offer sufficient coverage in my opinion.

I’m eyeballing two plans which are similar but have a huge jump in price: Blue Shield of California Silver 90 HMO is about $413, but offers overall lower costs on everything. Then there’s Blue Shield of California Silver 90 HMO for $327 (if you round up) which has higher co-pays on everything. I was told since I voluntarily canceled my Medi-Cal that I don’t qualify for any subsidies. I’m not sure whether this is true or not. Thoughts?
