How To Get Insurance in NYC
I (27F) was kicked off my mom’s health insurance last year. I am desperate to get insured again because I do suffer from thyroid issues and haven’t had access to meds in a while and I can feel my symptoms flaring up pretty badly. I am so lost on how to get coverage. I am a 1099 employee, I don’t think I’m eligible for medicaid but I really don’t think I can afford another big monthly bill. My biggest issue is I don’t even know how or where to begin. I try going on the marketplace and it honestly is all a foreign language to me. Sometimes I end up on sites that aren’t even a state insurance Marketplace but I can’t even tell. I don’t know if I need an Assistor or Broker or both. I’m sorry if I sound ridiculous and stupid but I just don’t know what I’m doing. Can somebody please explain every step I need to take as if I were a 5 yr old. I know people are able to do this themselves everyday and I don’t know why it’s so difficult for me to navigate.
