How to get dementia patient to cooperate for Insurance claim ??

We have insurance will cover in-home-care. My LO needs 24/7 care.

She wont eat or drink without prompting, she refuses to bath for the past two months, she will take her meds 20 times in a row, she will wander out of the house confused, she doesn’t remember who we are or where she is, she will touch a burning hot stove, she can’t use a phone to dial 911, she doesn’t know the date or year or President, she doesn’t know my name, she can’t think rationally or comprehend simple information…

BUT

She denies anything is wrong, she doesn’t realize she would die of starvation if she was left at home, she doesn’t realize she has memory problems, she thinks she’s 100% fine.

SO

For the insurance claim, they require a Zoom interview. They are going to ask LO directly all about her issues and she will DENY it ALL. “Do you require assistance with medication?” No. “Do you require assistance with eating and drinking?” No.

I’m worried they’re going to deny the claim.

What can I do for the interview??

-She gets officially diagnosed next month from a memory clinic. We could wait till then, but we need the claim approved NOW, because we can’t provide in home care without the costs covered.

-her husband is her Power of Attorney. Can he deem her incompetent?
