How do I get health coverage when married?

I had health insurance, but this health insurance was through my dad. My health insurance cut off when I turned 26. I am a full time nursing student and I am married so applying for Medicaid is tough, because of my husbands income.

Basically my husband and two kids have insurance, but I do not. Now I am pregnant and my husbands insurance open enrollment period isn't until February. Unlike our other pregnancies, this one was not planned and so now I am left without insurance and it's stressing me out with this baby. I know I got severely ill with my first two batteling HG, so I'm about sure it's going to happen again and I know it will put a huge toll on my mental health.

I just don't understand why insurance doesn't qualify pregnant as a "life event" but they count birth as one. The reason I wasn't added onto my husbands insurance when we were married, because I had insurance though my dad at the time. I just had an appt for an ultrasound behind my ear a week ago that took less than a minute. Then it had cost $1,000 just for a scan that lasted less than a minute which is wild!

Any advice for anyone who was in a similar situation. I looked at Healthgov but their enrollment isn't until November. It doesn't even have to be completely free, any coverage helps. I've seen people without insurance have their born babies go into the NICU out of their control and they owed close to a million dollars at the end of it. I just can't grasp why this is still an ongoing issue.
