How come nobody can tell me how much I’m gonna pay for a treatment?

This is a vent.

Alright, so I have an insurance (BCBS), and I am getting treated in-network. I call the hospital to ask how much I'll be billed. The hospital tells me it depends on my insurance, and they'll have to tell me. So I call the insurance. Insurance tells me they don't know until they get the claim, but they are able to send me a predetermination of benefits if I know the CPT code and how much hospital charges for the treatment. So I call the hospital to get the CPT and how much they're charging, and I call the insurance again with the info. Now, a different rep picks up the phone, and they tell me that it's impossible for me to know how much I'll be charged unless I HAVE THE CLAIM, WHICH HAPPENS AFTER THE TREATMENT WHEN IM RESPONSIBLE FOR THE BILL.

Seriously, our US health insurance system is trash but no one cares about it. I'd join a protest if there was one for a better health insurance.
