Hospital signed me up for Medicaid, but I have insurance

I had no idea the hospital did this, or why, but the first weird thing was when the social worker came by after I had my son and asked all the questions to make sure we were good to leave, she asked about my insurance and stated I had BCBS and Medicaid. I told her I don’t have Medicaid. I got a call this morning from some lady telling me she received an “add newborn form” for me, and I was like wtf is this for? And she said Mo health net. I said I never applied for this, I already have health insurance and it’s pretty good. She told me the hospital submitted it and that they applied for Medicaid for me as an uninsured female. I told her I wouldn’t qualify for the Medicaid anyway, I make over 60k and so does my husband. She seemed surprised that I was married and employed both. She told me I’d receive a letter saying I’m denied for the Medicaid. I never wanted it in the first place?! Is it common place for hospitals to do this? I know they had my BCBS on file, they sure wasted no time charging them as I already received the letters from my insurance showing what they paid and stating I just owed my $250 copay. I’m worried if they tried to bill Medicaid for something and I’ll have to backpay it, but I think my insurance should have covered it all. It states all prenatal care is covered no cost to me and delivery copay is just $250 so it seems like they paid it all.
