My son was born on at the end of the year last year and required a 8 day NICU stay. That stay extended into the next year where my insurance changed but I did not have a lapse in coverage. The hospital keeps sending me a bill for 26k and has been doing so for 8 months. I’ve called on conference calls with both insurance providers for them to explain to billing that my son is covered and they need to do a split bill as well and made sure they had my insurance information. It is still not resolved and the hospital informed me that the legal team sent a letter to the insurance I had at the start of care last year.I called the insurance and they said that they are not split billing as they were told to do so they deny the claim.I get 0 feedback from the hospital at all and I am terrified it will just go to collections. I have called with the insurance providers 4 times to tell them how to do it correctly. For reference another healthcare provider filed correctly and was paid for the same dates of service. So I have proof that I had active coverage for my son for the whole stay. What else can I do? Is there anyway for them to come after me for the bill?
