Hereditary Pancreatitis genetic test consequences

I have a long history of Chronic Pancreatitis. I'm in the UK now, and the doctor suggested identifying the type of my pancreatitis and the root cause. He thinks that it could be hereditary pancreatitis and suggested undertaking a genetic test. I guess he's talking about a mutation in the PRSS1 gene. However, he informed me about the potential consequences of a positive result, as it may make insurance companies avoid insuring me, and may leave me with no health insurance (except for NHS, I guess). I've researched and found that this can be identified as discrimination against the Equality Act and should not be true.

Additionally my girlfriend and I are considering moving in the US in the future. The US has a GINA act, which should help me to get insurance despite my mutations.

Should I reject the genetic test? Do you have a PRSS1 mutation, and how has it affected your health insurance in the UK, USA, and EU?
