Help Request – Health Insurance

I'm not positive if this is the proper sub, however:

How do I get the care that I need without the run around?

Some background: I I work in construction in the US and my job is about 45 minutes away from my house. I have to drop my daughter off in the morning by 8 before I can leave to get there and I typically don't finish until after rush hour traffic which is around 6:00. My time is very limited.

Now: I've been to a specialist in-network for lower back pain, which hinders my ability to work. He was able to do an X-ray, consult, prescribe a mild muscle relaxer, and give me a book recommendation.

Before he can do any other treatment, he needs to do an MRI. He explained that insurance won't cover that unless I do 6 weeks of physical therapy, first.

Not only is that costly, even with insurance, but they want me to spend 1 hour there at 2-3 times a week to do squats and stretching! I already do this… Everyday!

The question: How can I bypass this ridiculous requirement and get the help I really need?
