Help navigating reimbursement/refund with Cigna

My son had an urgent care visit back in June. Since February, our deductible and out of pocket max had been met since my wife had a baby. So, I should bear no patient responsibility for the June visit. Yet, Cigna still tried to charge me for 80% of the bill. I’ve been fighting them since June and their customer services reps have, at multiple instances, acknowledged the claim was incorrect and sent it for adjustment. Despite this, the claim still has not been corrected. In the meantime, the urgent care sent the bill to collections even though we called several times to explain to them what was going on. I paid the bill immediately when collections called to avoid the credit hit. Cigna today told me they will only pay the provider the bill.

Anyone have experience navigating this that can give tips? I’d like to receive a refund for the amount I had to pay. Best to try to get it from the provider? Or escalate with Cigna? Happy to provide more information if needed. TIA.
