Help! Moving states but won’t have permanent address there for a few months, can I get insurance in that state?

Moving from CA to NV (US) — can I change my health insurance and stuff without a permanent address?

Okay so, my boyfriend and I are moving from California to Nevada like the title says. We’re initially moving into an Airbnb for a couple months so we can look around at housing and neighborhoods before we commit to a place.

We’ve been staying with family in California to save money for our move. So, we can maintain our current address as our permanent address as long as we want, if we need. They’ll pass along the mail.

But, there are things that need to stay updated! I’ve moved states before so I’ve had to get new drivers licenses and stuff. I’m particularly concerned about health insurance because you just never know. But you need a permanent address in the state to switch, yeah?

An Airbnb is someone else’s house so I don’t want to use that address on such major documents. It seems nuts to even consider using an address so temporary on documents that could take as long to process as my stay in the house.

Am I just a “visitor” for that 2-3 months? Like, am I driving to California to see a dentist?

We (boyfriend and I) have Blue Sheild, pay out of pocket on our own, no employer involved in either state. Both self employed contractors.

Thank you in advance, I’m so confused.
