I have some options this year on a health plan and thinking about moving two kids over to a 70/30. To free up some more fsa money for orthodontic care.

One plan is a 70/30 plan with Co pays and the other is a 80/20 plan with a deductible.

The 70/30 plan has 0 dollar Co pays for primary care visits, 100 dollar urgent care visits, 40-90 dollar specialist visits. 4,500 deductible with 30% after for anything else. Er visits are 337 plus 30% after deductible. You can see a speciist at anytime

The 80/20 plan is just a straight 1800 deductible then 20% coinsirance after. Need referel for specialist.

The 80/20 seems better for catastrophic issues. We currently have this plan and usually the 20% kicks in around may depending on how things go. The 70/30 seems better for routine office visits.

It’s about 45.00 more a month to go with the 70/30 plan. Most of our visits are just routine pcp or dermatology visits. Rarely need to go to the ER.

We contribute 6,000 to an FSA and I have supplemental accident and critical illness coverages that kicks in with er visits.

Anyone have any thoughts?
