Help after MRI denial
I live in Florida and this is the first time I’ve really tried to use my health insurance (united healthcare , if that matters) for something other that routine checkups.
Long story short I have a shoulder issue that’s been ongoing since the winter at least. My Dr thinks it’s possibly a partially torn rotator but recommended I get an MRI to find out. First she advised I would have to get an X-ray as insurance will usually not cover the MRI without X-ray. X-ray came back negative, insurance has refused request for the MRI indicating first I would need to go through physical therapy or anti-inflammatory drugs for some period of time.
I’d rather not be taking pills that likely won’t solve the issue and it doesn’t make sense in my opinion to pay for months of PT when they won’t know for sure what the issue is because I don’t have a diagnosis yet.
Are there any recommendations on where I can go from here?
Thanks
