Health insurance open enrollment underway at beWellnm – The Deming Headlight
ALBUQUERQUE – BeWellnm, the New Mexico Health Insurance Exchange, announces the beginning of the Open Enrollment Period for Plan Year 2022. Tens of thousands of New Mexicans are eligible to receive health insurance at little or no cost beginning January 1, 2022.
This year’s Open Enrollment Period also marks the transition from the federal marketplace (Healthcare.gov) to a state-based exchange allowing beWellnm to bring better options to New Mexicans.
“BeWellnm now provides New Mexicans with a local solution to help them find a health plan that best fits their needs,” said Jeffery Bustamante, CEO for beWellnm. “We will be able to set our own enrollment dates, provide the most comprehensive and affordable plans available, and create a more intuitive enrollment experience.”
By building its own enrollment platform, New Mexico has created a better pathway for New Mexicans to find health coverage. “Through enhanced coordination across state agencies and public and private health coverage programs, we will ensure all families can get the help they need to enroll in the coverage option that’s best for them. And with access to real-time data, beWellnm can develop more targeted outreach and enrollment efforts for New Mexico,” said Bustamante.
BeWellnm is offering dozens of plan options across multiple carriers, including dental insurance. Free local enrollment assistance and financial assistance continue to be available so New Mexicans can select a plan to fit their health and budget for 2022.
“We encourage all New Mexicans to begin the enrollment or re-enrollment process on November 1, so they can find the most comprehensive and affordable health insurance options available,” said Maureen Manring, Director of Communication and Outreach for beWellnm.
All plans will continue to cover the 10 essential benefits such as doctor visits, hospital stays, maternity care, emergency room care, prescriptions, and more. Federal law and regulations provide protections against preexisting condition exclusions in health insurance coverage. Health plans must permit New Mexicans to enroll regardless of health status, age, gender, or other factors that may predict the use of health services.
“Health insurance purchased through beWellnm during the Open Enrollment Period will allow for steep discounts and may completely eliminate premiums for low-income individuals and families,” said Manring.
The New Mexico health insurance companies participating in the beWellnm state-based marketplace include:
• Ambetter from Western Sky Community Care
• Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Mexico
• Friday Health Plans • Molina Healthcare
• Presbyterian Health Plan
• True Health New Mexico
The beWellnm Open Enrollment Period begins today and will last until January 15, 2022 for Plan Year 2022. If New Mexicans enroll by December 23, 2021, their coverage begins on January 1, 2022. If they enroll by January 15, 2022, their coverage begins on February 1, 2022.
The beWellnm team of certified enrollment counselors, agents, and brokers are free. They are always available to help those in need to review and explain their health insurance options through telephone assistance or virtual appointments at (833) 862-3935 or online by visiting beWellnm.com.
